The game sold well in Japan, and the 3DS became the top selling system of the week. Tales of the Abyss for Nintendo 3DS has had a successful first week of sales. The game sold 74,173 units for the week of June 27 till July 3. The release also propelled the 3DS to be the top selling console of the week, with 30,233 units sold.
